Draft Masterplan approved by planning committee for consultation purposes

21 April 2006

The draft Masterplan was approved by Planning Committee on 9 March 2006 for consultation purposes. The formal consultation period runs from 13 March to 8 May 2006. Legislation introduced in 2004 means that the environmental consequences of developments such as the draft Caltongate Masterplan must be fully assessed. The designers have to take explicit account of the effects of the development on the natural environment, on the built environment and on people. The draft masterplan is therefore subject to a strategic environmental assessment (SEA), which forms part of the consultation process. Below is the Council's formal determination that an SEA is required for the draft Caltongate Masterplan.
